Erik Ingelsson obtained his degrees in medicine (2000) and PhD (2005) at Uppsala University, Sweden. He trained in general practice (2003-2006) and took up a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Framingham Heart Study at Boston University (2006-2007). He moved to Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) 2007 and was appointed Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology in 2010. Between 2013 and 2016, he was Professor of Molecular Epidemiology at Uppsala University. Since May 2016, he is Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
